If you come to our karate school, you will be learning a martial arts system that we call American Karate. This eclectic system combines simple and effective techniques with safe and reliable training methods for a very practical working knowledge of the martial arts.

Karate translates from Japanese as “empty hands.” In the fighting arts, it refers to a person being able to defend themselves when unarmed. We like to think of karate as a means of defending yourself physically, mentally and spiritually with nothing more than your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Karate for Christ takes a holistic approach to self-defense by not only teaching physical self-defense, but also teaching students about mental and spiritual aspects of self-defense.

Here is a brief list of the types of things we teach in our system:

  • Stand-up fighting including footwork, blocks, strikes and kicks.
  • Joint locks and manipulations.
  • Rolling, falling and throws.
  • Specific self defense scenarios and areas of concern for students.
  • Mental skills such as conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • Spiritual principals and truths that will guide and protect students from life’s pitfalls.

Designed from the techniques and principals from various martial art styles, American Karate is a complete mixed martial arts fighting system.
